Thanks to the Birdhouse Buying Club, Tampa Bay residents can come together to purchase organically grown local and regional produce. Talkupy with Annie Lindstrom is delighted to welcome founder Ryan Iacovacci to the show on Thursday, September 6 at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. Ryan will discuss the Birdhouse Buying Clubs efforts to operate as transparent, sovereign and democratically managed food cooperative that makes fresh, healthy food more affordable to its members. In addition to purchasing the food wholesale for its members and sorting it, Birdhouse provides nutrition information and tips on preparing the food. In addition to providing people with good food, Birdhouse works to bring honesty, respect and affordability back into the food system by respecting all consumers, growers/harvesters and the planet. Ryan is active in many other community organizations and causes. He is a board member of the local public radio station, WMNF, and he works as a bartender at the Mermaid Tavern.
